Samuel J. Cadden Chapel
On June 15, 2016 the University announced a gift of $1.5 million from Ken and Mary Cadden to name the Samuel J. Cadden Chapel to celebrate the life of their son Sam. As a Clemson Tiger, Sam was a rising junior in financial management, who served on the Finance Council of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Clemson. He also worked at M.H. Frank in downtown Clemson and had internships with both United States Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and the Terminus Group at Morgan Stanley out of Atlanta, Ga. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Sam was a special member of the Clemson Family, and had also written a list of 31 goals to accomplish in his lifetime. One of those goals was to give back to his Alma Mater through a gift to name a building. The Cadden’s gift will help fulfill Sam’s goal, and the Samuel J. Cadden Chapel will become a special place to celebrate Sam and more of our fellow Tigers who were gone too soon. If you would like to give or learn more about the Samuel J. Cadden Chapel, please visit: clemson.edu/chapel. |

Summer Orientation
Clemson is welcoming more than 3,600 students and their guests to summer orientation. This will be our largest freshman class to date and they are coming in with the highest academic scores of any class, with an average SAT score of 1251 and ACT score of 28.5. We are also expecting 1,300 transfer students this summer. We are excited about welcoming these new students to Clemson’s campus. |

Construction Updates
- When it opens for the fall 2016 academic year, the new Core Campus project will be completed and students will enjoy new academic space, classrooms, retail outlets, new Honors College housing and a new dining hall that will replace Harcombe Dining Hall. We also expect the Barnes Center to be ready this year in late fall. This will be a wonderful space for our students to gather for social activity on campus.
- Our students thoroughly enjoyed playing on the LoConte Family Field at the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Center this spring. Intramural Sports saw 200+ students participate each night and Club Sports had teams using the field as early as 7 a.m and as late as 11 p.m. for practices and competitions. Additionally, LoConte Family Field was a crucial field-space after the Intramural Fields and Club Sports Fields were taken offline due to damage in the fall.
